Seasons
Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
Life has a way of changing in an instant. One day everything feels familiar and predictable, and the next day something shifts. Sometimes it’s a phone call, a conversation, a diagnosis, a relationship change, or simply a realization that life as you knew it has quietly ended. We often call these moments seasons.
Scripture reminds us that there is a season for everything—times of planting and uprooting, weeping and laughing, building and tearing down. Looking back, it’s easy to see how our lives are marked by these seasons. Some last years. Others pass quickly.
But for me, it’s the sudden seasons that take my breath away. The ones I didn’t see coming. The moments when I feel completely unprepared for what’s happening and unsure how to move forward. When life shifts so quickly that it feels like the ground beneath my feet is no longer steady and I’m unable to metabolize it. In those moments, my first instinct is usually to ask why.
Why this?
Why now?
What am I supposed to do with this?
Sometimes the season doesn’t make sense in the moment. It can feel confusing, painful, or simply overwhelming. But over time, I’ve noticed something important.
While seasons constantly change, God never does. The same God who walked with me in the last season is already present in the new one. He isn’t surprised by the sudden turn in the story of my life. He isn’t scrambling to figure out what comes next.
He already knows.
Scripture tells us in Malachi 3:6, “For I the Lord do not change.” The Hebrew word for “change” in this passage is shanah, which can mean to change, alter, or repeat. God does not change or alter—He is constant and unshifting.
I was reminded of this in that unexpected season when everything around me felt like it had shifted overnight. The plans I thought were secure suddenly felt uncertain, and I found myself searching for something steady to hold onto.
And yet, in the middle of that uncertainty, God met me—not with leftover grace from a previous season, but with exactly what I needed for that moment. His presence felt just as real, just as steady, even though everything else had changed.
It made me realize something I hadn’t fully understood before: while God does not change, the way He meets us in each season is not a repetition. His mercies are new every morning—fresh, intentional, and perfectly positional for where we are.
That truth has become an anchor for me. Because while circumstances change, people change, and plans change, God’s character does not. His faithfulness, goodness, wisdom and love remain constant.
One of the things I’ve learned through seasons of sudden change is that God often uses them to open our eyes to Him in ways we might not have seen otherwise. When everything feels stable, it’s easy to rely on what we can see and control. But when life shifts unexpectedly, we are invited to look deeper and fix our gaze on the One who never changes.
And sometimes that is exactly where God meets us—in the middle of the uncertainty—gently reminding us that while seasons come and go, His presence remains constant. My prayer is that in whatever season you find yourself today, your eyes would be opened to see the faithfulness of God more clearly than ever before.

I am so proud of you! Your Mama and Daddy would be too. We love you more than words can say.
